In the heart of the Arizona desert where the regal Saguaro reaches for the sun and the remains of ancient pueblos stand, you’ll find wild burros kicking up dust. These small but hardy animals have been present in Arizona since they were introduced by the Spaniards in the 1500s. Gold prospectors, pioneers, and explorers have utilized the burros to carry supplies in the past, often turning them loose when they were no longer needed. These members of the horse family have thrived in the unforgiving desert.
Burros are not the only impressive sight in the desert. Wanderers encounter an array of colorful minerals, such as quartz, turquoise, agate, and peridot.
Desert Burro Jewelry Company grew out of an appreciation for the Arizona desert’s geologic history and the perseverance of the burro. Each piece of jewelry is one-of-a-kind. All rocks/minerals are collected on private land.
